Computer Labs and Tech Services

Student Technology Centers

NYU IT Student Technology Centers offer a large range of software for use by anyone with access to the facilities. Click here to explore the current software offerings by location.

Digital Studio

The Digital Studio, located on the fifth floor of Bobst Library, offers a collection of computer software and hardware for use by NYU community members working on a wide range of instructional and research projects. Software at the Studio includes applications for audio recording and podcasting, digital video editing, film and document scanning, and more.

Data Services

Data Services provides a variety of software for statistical, qualitative, and GIS analysis of social science data, and staff conduct free lectures and workshops in the theory and programming of statistical packages. Geographic Information System (GIS) software enables maps and spatial data to be created, stored, and studied using personal computers and servers. Any file with addresses or a latitude/longitude field — Census data, for example — would greatly benefit from a spatial visualization or analysis.

Virtual Computer Lab (VCL)

The Virtual Computer Lab (VCL) is an NYU service that provides students with access to "virtualized" applications — software that is hosted remotely but can be accessed via an Internet connection from an NYU student's personal computer.

NYU Computer Store

If you can't find the software package you need at any of the University's labs or studios, or if you want to purchase a copy for yourself, the NYU Computer Store (726 Broadway) offers a wide variety of software for sale. Exclusive discounted NYU pricing is available on some applications.
